DONATIONS

Along with monetary contributions and volunteering, The Hope Center of Greenville, has several item and labor support opportunities available. Any assists with these issues would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to give you a brief summary of our facilities and activities along with some of the opportunities that we have available. We opened the Hope Center on May 31st 2006 with a group of at-risk youth in the Texas Work Force program and have been pleased to partner with them in this effort. Relationships have been developed with counselors in our local schools and as a result, we will have an ongoing opportunity for tutoring and mentoring in several areas.

We are grateful to have use of such a wonderful facility as this Family Life Center of First Baptist Church of Greenville. Classrooms have been refreshed and are now in use with other rooms avaiable as the need arises. The Following is a list of completed tasks along with issues still pending. Any and all of the pending tasks are avaiable for volunteer work.

(Room names are in bold print)
Room 1: Integrity: Renovation complete as a multi-purpose room.

• Currently in use as a general classrom
• Will be used for individual and group tutoring sessions as well as life-skills, instruction such as health & hygiene; CPR; baby & child care & safety; Spanish or English, etc.

Room 2: Joy: Renovation complete as a multi-purpose administration office / tutoring room.

• Administrative assistant and volunteer coordinators office area.
• Individual & small group tutoring.

Room 3: Hope: Renovation complete as a multi-purpose room for Gilstrap Technology Institute (Named after the late Melvin Gilstrap)

• Computer lab
• Science & technology tutoring
• Recently used in the Texas Work Force training program as a setting for mock job interviews that were filmed and placed on DVD's for the students.

Game room:

• Excellent place for relationship building, relaxing, etc.

Executive Directors Office:

• Completed and proving monitoring for all activities in the building.

Gym & Handball Court areas: Work in progress. Renovation needed to bring these areas up to full use capability.

• An old hockey floor was donated to the church.
• Basketball backboard must be replaced.
• Handball court floor repaired & cleaned, door refinished, light fixtures prepared to equip the room for racketball.

Kitchen & Dining Hall areas:

• Misc. work needed to weatherstrip exteriors doors
• Electrical, updates, etc.

Exterior of building:

• Cleaning & repairs to stucco
• Replacement of guttering and repair to stucco along the back side of the building.
• Power washing building

IMMEDIATE OPPORTUNITIES

• Daily prayer for wisdom & for all who come to the center
• Funding-that needed finances will be provided. We are a non-profit tax exempt organization. Grant funds take some time to develop, which makes the need for local funds crucial in order to operate.
• Volunteer for tutoring, mentoring, teachering life skills and literacy & operational needs.
